Departments

Department I is under the direction of mayor Harry Mergel, who is also the chairman of the city council. Department I is responsible for public management, public relations, integration and public participation. Several times a year on a Saturday, the mayor holds a civic meeting. The dates are made public in advance and appear on the city homepage leading up to the event.

Department II is led by the first councillor Martin Diepgen. He is responsible for the city’s economics and finances, personnel and organization, as well as for the position of equal opportunity for women.

Department III is directed by councillor Agnes Christner. Her responsibilities include civic service, culture, education and daycare, public safety and order, as well as social duties and health care.

Councillor Willfried Hajek is in charge of Department IV. Department IV includes the responsibilities of building, planning, living and environment.
